  • How do I sign up?
    Signing up with American Power & Gas is simple, simply click enroll now in the navigation bar and follow the instructions on the page or give us a call at (800)-380-8435.
  • Do I have to contact my current supplier or utility company?
    No, you don’t need to contact your current supplier or utility company to cancel services. When you submit your enrollment to American Power & Gas we will submit the switch request to your current electricity provider, and utility company. This will ensure that you will not experience any interruption in service during the transition.
  • When will American Power & Gas’ service take effect after I enroll?
    The length of the switch process depends upon a range of factors, such as you will not switch during the middle of your current billing cycle. If however you do not see a change in your bill after 8 weeks though feel free to contact us at (800)-380-8435.
  • What is an ESCO?
    An Energy Supply Company is a company that is licensed by the Public Utility Service Commission to compete in New York to sell you electricity. An ESCO may also offer other energy-related services such as energy efficiency programs or natural gas service. An ESCO may also be a company affiliated with your local electric utility company or an independent electricity supplier.
  • How will I be billed for my usage?
    Bills for a home or business are the same. The utility company owns the power lines and therefore will continue to read your meter, provide emergency service for outages and bill you for your usage, however if you choose American power and gas as your current energy supplier. Our name will appear on your current bill for your supply charges with our low cost variable rates.
  • Who will read and maintain my meters?
    The utility company owns the power lines and meters for your area and will continue to read your meter, provide emergency service and bill you as they always have, however on your bill our name will be printed with our rates under your current energy supplier.
  • Is American Power and Gas a licensed supplier?
    Yes, American Power & Gas is licensed with the state public utilities commissions in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
  • Do I have to go through the enrollment process online to see American Power and Gas prices?
    No. We do ask for some information about you location to be able to get you an accurate price but after you can then choose to continue or not
  • How do I find out my price on the American Power and Gas website for electric or gas?
    If you are a new customer it’s easy to get a price from American Power and Gas. You don’t have to enroll to see prices but we do ask for some information about where your’e located to be able to give you the best accurate price available.
    Go to the enroll page and enter your zip code.
    You will be asked to confirm the utility you’re currently in.
    You will then be shown prices for gas and electricity for that area and green options.
    You can then select the price you want to pay and continue with the enrollment process by entering your name and account information.
  • Do you have any fixed rates?
    Yes, but only in specific areas of NY at this time.
  • I haven’t received my American Power and Gas confirmation email. What should I do?
    You must make sure you enter your correct email address in the enrollment process. The email is sent almost immediately. Please check your spam or junk folders for an email from welcome@goapg.com If you still have not received it please call customer service at 800-205-7491.
  • I made a mistake on the website enrollment. What do I do?

  • How does the 25% rebate work?
    After twelve months, American Power & Gas will automatically review your supply costs for the previous twelve months, determine your average cost per month and then cut you a rebate check for 25% of that amount
  • What is a variable price and how does that work?
    A variable rate is a rate that changes on monthly basis based on the fluctuating energy market just like you receive now with your utility.
  • How does the introduction rate work?
    Simple, we tell you the low intro rate per kWh or ccf for your initial month of service and that is the rate you will see on your first bill. Guaranteed.
  • Are all taxes included in pricing?
    Gross receipt taxes are included in our rate but you still have to pay the normal state sales tax for your area.
  • What is the term of the American Power and Gas agreement?
    24 month term but you can leave at any time.
  • Are there any cancel fees or penalties if I opt out?
    No there are no fees to leave American Power and Gas. This is unless we have paid to transfer a cancel fee from your previous supplier.
  • I can’t enroll online. What can I do?

  • I have a past due balance. Can I enroll?
    Most of the time you can but it depends on your utility. Please continue with your enrollment and we will let you know if there are any issues.
  • What confirmation do I get once I have enrolled?
    Once you have completed your online enrollment, you will receive a confirmation number. Plus we will send you an email with your enrollment information. Please check your junk or spam filters for the email and if you haven’t received it after a few hour please call customer service at 800-205-7491.
  • I’m the spouse. Can I enroll?
    Yes.
  • What do I need to complete an enrollment online?
    Have your utility bill on hand, that’s all you need. Online enrollment is fast and easy. Click here to enroll.
  • I don’t have a copy of a bill. How do I enroll with American Power and Gas?
    Call your utility or go online to your utility website and get your account data or view or print a copy of the bill. You need your account data to enroll.
  • I have a cancel fee with my existing supplier. What should I do?
    We might be able to help you with that. Call an American Power and Gas representative at 1-888-815-6971 and see what options they might have for you.
  • My browser won’t display the website properly. What should I do?
    Some old versions of Internet Explorer are not supported by the website. If you are having issues going through the enrollment process we recommend you update your browser or open in Firefox or Google Chrome. You can also call Customer Service on 1.888.815.6971
  • How long does it take for me to switch over to American Power and Gas?
    This varies from utility to utility. Once you have enrolled, you may see the switch as early as your next bill but its normally quite fast before the switch is complete.
